Besides the beach, Scheveningen has got several other opportunities to explore. Below is a summary of a few possibilities that are close to the Strandhotel.
Keizerstraat
The Keizerstraat, is the oldest (shopping) street of Scheveningen. It starts right on the boulevard and is best described as intimate or cosy. This is the place to go if you want to experience the real Scheveningen village culture. You will find several franchises of national shopping chains like Hema, Blokker and Albert Heijn, but also some smaller boutiques and restaurants. To get to the Keizerstraat from the Strandhotel, you can take tramline 1. After 6 minutes you have reached tramstop Keizerstraat.
Palacepromenade
On only 3 minutes by foot from the Strandhotel, you will find the Palace Promenade. This shopping mall is opened from 10.00 hours til 22:00 hours (in summer). It offers a broad range of shops that primarily cater to tourists. The Palace Promenade is ideal for small purchases like magazines, cosmetics and souvenirs, but if you are a real shopaholic, we recommend the Frederik Henderiklaan.
Frederik Henderiklaan (Fred)
The Fred is a long shopping street (ca. 800 meter) with around 125 stores that vary widely in their assortment. U will find shops for clothes, leisure, living, gifts, travel, food & drinks etc etc. If you feel like shopping, this is the place to go. From the Strandhotel you can hop on bus 21, which will take you in roughly 15 minutes to the Fred. Hop off at bus stop "Willem de Zwijgerlaan".
Dutch Oriental Spa
Those who want to treat themselves to a good massage go to Dutch Oriental Spa on the Palaceplein. Besides massages they also offer body scrubs and foot treatments.
Tanning salon
Beauty Lounge Léonore offers a wide assortment of solaria. Ideal for when the Dutch sunrays are nowhere to be found.
Holland Casino
The Holland Casino is a superb place to gamble, but also to go out for a bite and or drink. Please ask our receptionist for free entrance vouchers.
Pathe Scheveningen
The Pathe movie theater of Scheveningen is one of the biggest movie theaters of the Netherlands. In the 8 rooms they display a wide range of different movies. No doubt you will find one that you like.
